Metis is the god of balance. No one besides himself and the All Father know for sure when Metis was brought into being, but he has been around through at least one breaking of the world. Some of his followers believe he has always been. For the world has always needed balance to hold it in check. Metis more often than not is found walking the material plane. When he appears he looks to be an older man with long silvery hair and beard. He wears simple robes that look torn and travel worn. Over the years he has sired several other gods.
The twin goddesses of nature Flora and Fauna are his twin daughters who came into being around the time the plant was created. Pandora, goddess of fate, and Authras, god of knowledge, are also his children.
The young mortal turned god Fitztier also stole many of his current portfolio aspects from Metis, to the anger of the other gods. Metis on the other hand seemed almost relieved to be rid of the burden. Many Dwarves, Halflings, Gnomes, and half breeds call Metis their lord, as he was the one god to take them in after they were discarded by their creators.
Dogma:
Metis believes that mortal men need the gods to guide them, not rule over them. He believes in balance in all things. He is wise in his words and speaks only when he has something of note and worth to say. He rarely interferes in the constant warring of the other gods, but when he does most of the pantheon take heed to his words. In his eyes the world will always find balance on its own. Trying to control the world around you is a fruitless pursuit that usually causes more harm than good.
Clergy and Temples:
Followers of The Neutral One normally form themselves in small monastic temples. Inside these bastions of solitude and tranquility they meditate and try to learn from the teachings of their god. Their ultimate goal is inner peace, and with it balance with the world around them.
