History of the Realm

The Start of Things
In the beginning there was only one god. A being of unimaginable power, the All Father. With patience and will he began to form into being a world. He created it just as he had created countless worlds before it, for as far back as time stretched. Yet this one was different, special. It was a work of love. He devoted his self fully to its creation for this world would be his last. As the world rotated in the vast heavens a blue and green marble in the hands of the All Father, he did know joy. This world needed something more, someone who could appreciate it the way he did. So the All Father took from himself and created two in his image. His children gazed at their father with adoration unimaginable to the human mind. Then he gave to them this world. Fresh and new it beckoned to the two new gods, and they drew nearer to it and stood upon its surface marveling at the color and beauty before them. The All Father watched with mirth and joy as his children wandered over his latest creation.

He then summoned his will and brought into being the beasts of this world. First to come were the birds, bees, and dragons to rule over the sky. Second were the fish, whales, and squids to make the sea their home. Then came the rabbit, squirrel, and wolf to roam the vast expanses of land. With each new creature he made, the All Father’s heart grew and grew. The All Father’s daughter, Ariel, thanked her father for the countless creatures she called friends. While her brother Deimos cursed such things and reshaped the world around him to better suit his mood. He drained rivers, leveled mountains, and burned fields of green.

The All Father sensed tension growing between his children. This he could not have, for he had made this world for them. A place for them to know his joys. So he taught his children the making of things and let them create beasts and creatures as they wanted. There was peace and joy as the two spent their every waking hour creating new life and looking after it. Then with the turning of an age the two godlings had grown. Both held the world dear to their hearts, but for very different reasons. Ariel loved all things for what they were and the natural innocence invested in each. Deimos ravished the land and created monsterous creatures that he bent to his will. The two divided the world and tried their best to keep away from each other. Yet creatures of darkness would come forth to eat, and destroy creatures of the light. So creatures of the light would push back…on and on the little conflicts went. Each one a tremor to enlarge the already growing divide between brother and sister. Finally the rift between the two had grown so wide that both felt that the other had to go. They believed that Lightness and Darkness had no place living side by side.

The two gods met upon a plain of brilliant green. A driving force of will burned in each siblings eyes. No words were spoken, at least not out loud. It was as if a switch had been thrown, where once there was a calm green plain, now was a battlefield of terrible power. The two siblings unleashed the full force of the powers they both possessed at one another. So intent on the each other were they that they noticed not the destruction reaped on the world around them. Creatures died by the millions, disintegrated into nothingness by the force rolling off the two titanic beings. The world began to heave and rumble….Cracks ran along its surface and raced down to its core. Within a blink of the eye all was reduced to ash and rubble as the two gods snapped out of their quarrel to witness what they had done. There the two wept. For in their narrow minded anger they had lost sight of that which they held so dear, and in their blindness did they destroy what they had come to hold most precious to them.
