A Little Perspective

The perspective of a mouse during the Spelljammer’s third session.

Meet the brave Captain Pebbles. He owns his own ship and all the food in it. He spends his days swimming in soup, digging holes through cheese, and napping on the chocolate cake.  That’s until one day unexpected guests arrive.

Also, he’s a mouse.

A resounding THUD is heard by our hero. In a squeaky voice only understandable by other mice, “What is that?!”

Pebbles wakes from his bed of oats and heads to the upper deck.

“Biggies!  Ah!  TWO BIGGIES!”

Biggies is what Pebbles calls folk that aren’t mice.

“Hey, biggies! Stop taking my stuff!”

Two of the so called biggies, one presumably a dwarf are taking supplies and food from the Captain’s ship. He must do something!

Minutes later aboard enemy’s vessel Captain Pebbles lay defeated in what appears to be a basket vegetables.

“They got me this time, but I will have my revenge…. Ooh is that ale!?”

Hours go by as the biggies limp their damaged ship to Anchor Point,  a watering hole of sorts where other ships come for repairs, work, and a drink.  The crew of the Pathfinder, must have got a bit of all three, because they spent the night, got their ship repaired and headed out.  Captain Pebbles was going to join his new crew for some refreshment until he saw the giant cat-folk and quickly decided he better keep an eye on the ship.

Several days they road the silver tides non-stop.  Captain pebbles would scurry to the sails and controls to make minor course corrections.

“These buffoons obviously don’t know what they’re doing. It’s a good thing I’m here.”

Eventually they make it to their destination.  A small rocky planetoid of sorts with a crater and a hole entrance in the center.  Captain Pebbles grabs his belt and needle and jumps aboard the dingy.

“Biggies, we must go!”

“What are they talking about!? I swear it’s like they can’t hear me.”

The Paladin, the Wizard, and Cleric finally heed their Captain’s commands, board the dingy, almost step on him, and proceed to the cave.

“Obviously the gravity is weird guys so watch it!”, Pebbles warns.

But the dwarf doesn’t listen and he stumbles landing awkwardly as he enters the hole.  Gravity shifts allowing them to walk on the sides of the hole, now the floor, I suppose. The crew find 1 of the 4 crates they’re to retrieve at the entrance. The other must be in further.  The brave captain goes in first. Bouncing and leaping through the gravity change with ease he comes to a forked path. He sniffs the air. “Let’s go right!”

The Wizard ignores the wisdom of his captain and decides to go left.  After our Cleric fails to sneak into the first room our party is pounced upon by space goblins with explody-tossy things, didn’t go great, but they found the second crate.

After the Cleric nearly dying and having to heal himself, this time the mighty Paladin leads the charge around a pool of green ichor stopping two goblins trying to make off with the third crate.  As he waylays into them, behind him nasty transparent, regurgitated looking goblins pop out of the pool and start attacking the Cleric and the Wizard. In a desperate and foolish attempt to stop these acid filled little demons, the Cleric dives into battle, but as he kills these things they pop and splash acid onto him eventually dropping him. The Wizard throwing some times dangerous rays of ice, but also sometimes basically popsicles, he tries to hold them back, but they keep coming.

Captain Pebbles squeaks, “Ah the Cleric is down!” He scurries around the pool. Squeaking and slashing at the goblins with no effect.  He squeaks at the Paladin, “Save the Cleric, Paladin!”

After the Paladin finishes off the two Goblins he makes a warpath back through the acidic goblins ignoring their searing splashes of acid and revives the dwarf.

The third crate is secured by our heroes. The Cleric is hurt and in over his head. The Paladin has healed himself, but is still pretty banged from the encounter, truly taking the brunt of most of the attacks. The Wizard who managed to keep a distance remains mostly untouched. But, our brave Captain Pebbles stands ready with his needle in hand ready to take on the next room!

“I told you to go right!”
