Cyst is a son of Deimos and a female demi-god that ended her own existence after birthing the godling and realizing just what she had created. Since that very first day, he has known little but hatred. Hatred for a mother that scorned him with all her divine being, hatred for the All Father for taking power away from his own father, hatred for his father for not being strong enough to ensure their family’s rightful places at the head of the pantheon, hatred for his brothers and sisters that would squabble among themselves, and hatred for gods of light and their seemingly joyful existence.

Cyst still follows his father, Deimos’, mandates and seeks the shards of god-power spread throughout the universe. He does so only because he isn’t crafty enough to devise a way to take all the power himself and subject the entire rest of the pantheon to an endless painful existence under his cruel ministrations. He allies with the other dark deities for short spans of time, but his bitterness towards them makes such partnerships short lived.

While not the consummate warrior like his brother, Maphesto, he is not one to shun the chance to unleash his wrath in a frontal assault. Also, not the schemer that Trillian is, he knows the power of simmering hate and the delicious flavor of revenge. His sister, Azerot, confounds him, for he cannot understand why one would want to limit the emotions of their followers as most of the undead are mindless creatures. The few that do retain their passions, especially their perpetual hatred toward whatever trapped them in their undying bodies, do pique his interest.

Clergy and Temple

Cyst’s followers are an outright evil bunch. It seems to be the ones with the worst childhoods congregate to him. The battered, abused and abandoned that have hate in their heart for the world normally want to give retribution back to those that left them scarred emotionally or physically. Cyst whispers to them in their sleep and beckons to them, offering them a chance at justice. Feeding upon their deep desires Cyst then lures them away from whatever good that they may have in life and then begins the slow process of breaking them even further. Cyst doesn’t want love, or devotion, he wants obedience. Once they no longer have any free will, the army that serves him is loyal only to the point of wanting to inflict suffering onto others as it has been to them. This backward tactic has bred an efficient force that continues to grow and sow the seeds of suffering upon the world.
