Authras is a lesser god and chooses to keep to himself. His sanctuary is his massive library where all of history has been recorded. His main concerns are the past and present and concerns himself with the future only by predicting from the past. His pursuit of knowledge of all things takes up his time and does not concern himself overly with the matters of mortals or gods for that matter.
Dogma:
If Authras’s priests took time from reading to pray, this would be their creed:
- Knowledge is everything.
- Knowledge is the only worthy pursuit.
- Knowledge of the past and present can be used to calculate chances in the future.
- Knowledge is the root of all power.
- Knowledge is everything.
Clergy and Temples:
Knowledge Seekers of Authras serve as the main clergy for Authras. They serve to bring him news of the world’s happenings so that he can stay informed. For the younger clergy it is very hard to achieve the higher ranks of his services. To get into them you must discover something that is new or somehow exciting to him. For the most part, since Authras can grant immunity to aging to his followers, these secrets are closely guarded. New discoveries are rare but when some sort of breakthrough in science or mathematics occurs, there is much scurrying about by his acolytes.
There is also fierce competition amongst the informed and well educated to guard their secrets as they hold them as some sort of power over each other. This is odd since most Seekers are more then happy to share their knowledge with those that they deem uninformed (normally to the annoyance of those around them). Their numbers are small since their isn’t much fame or fortune in this path and being locked up in towers reading (by choice) doesn’t lead to much of a social life. This has lead to a misconception that they are eunuchs but sadly for the most part they just don’t attract significant others easily.
