Cider and Stake Outs -Game 3 Duke

Game 3: Cider and Stake Outs – 8/23/2023
The time was drawing near, and Kolbus was getting a bit nervous. They were really going to do this. They
were going to force their way into the Grinner’s den and likely get into a fight. He didn’t have nearly as
much information as he would have liked, but after 3 days of staking out the joint, there wasn’t too
much more they could glean with out better resources or contacts. At least they’d decided to bring in
some muscle. This Rendarian, Pavel, looked like he could handle himself. By the gods he was big. Kolbus
had seen a few Rendarians in his travels, but none that he know of who could claim having been part of
the renown Wardens. He’d have to make sure he kept some space if the man started swinging his axe.
The past few days hadn’t been bad. A few late nights were spent watching who was coming and going
from the old two story on Olive street next to the hovels and tenements. He’d also had the chance to
make contact with the Hatpins and exchange a little info. It sounded like no would miss the Grinners
down by the Rust, at least those that didn’t have a taste for their products. So that was good. Now to
just do the deed and earn an introduction to the Clippers. If this was what it took just to meet the first
ask of Taven, he didn’t relish what else might be in his future.

: A Letter Home :
My dearest love,
I embarked upon a trading endeavor and was blessed to make a bit of coin in the sale of cider. Fortune
smiles upon me. Things couldn’t be better. Additionally, I have made a few more acquaintances that also
work in the business of buying, selling, and exchanging all types of goods, from crockery to hats and
cloth to pins. I look forward to continuing to establish myself here and building my trade network. I
could see myself doing quite well, though start up capital is a bit scarce. With what funds I can currently
pull together, it may take some time to get a thriving business, but I shall endeavor none the less.
Oh, and here is a bit of gossip for you to sate your curiosity. These lands are typically barren of many of
the sentient creatures outside of the human species and some of the demi human races. However, I did
spy something that may have been goblins, they were smaller and were green in color, being taken for
bounties to a local mercenary guild. The passing adventures who appeared to have slain the creatures
said they came from a newly opened tunnel in the local silver mine. Interesting that they popped up
being so uncommon in these parts.
If you would be so kind, I’d love to hear a bit of news from back home. It always warms the spirits to
know my letters reach you.
Fair thee well, my love.
Yours truly,

Kolbus
