Field Marshal Orik Stonefist
Field Marshal Orik Stonefist is a towering human man in his late 50s, his broad shoulders and weathered frame still imposing despite his age. His once black hair is now streaked with gray, and a thick, neatly-trimmed beard frames a face marked with scars that speak of decades in the unforgiving desert. His piercing blue eyes still carry the sharpness of a man who has seen countless battles and survived them all through grit, skill, and unyielding determination.
In his prime, Orik was known as a fearsome fighter, his strength earning him the nickname “Stonefist” after he famously crushed the helm of a raider captain with his bare hands. Though age has slowed his movements, his presence alone commands respect. Every step he takes is measured, his posture that of a veteran who has learned to carry both the weight of war and the burdens of leadership.
Orik worked his way up through the ranks of the Seekers’ Pact with sheer determination, becoming Field Marshal through a lifetime of hard-earned victories. Now, he oversees operations from his office within the Last Oasis Inn, a sturdy room filled with maps of the Great Desert, ledgers of assignments, and trophies from his glory days. His job is to assess the skills and reliability of every Seeker and assign them to jobs he believes they can handle—or that will test their limits without needlessly risking lives.
Though gruff in demeanor, Orik has a pragmatic sense of fairness. He values courage and competence above all, and he has little patience for arrogance or foolishness. When assigning jobs, he expects Seekers to prove themselves through action, and he doesn’t shy away from delivering blunt criticism. However, those who earn his trust find a fierce ally in Orik, one who will fight tooth and nail to protect the lives of those under his command.
He often stands near the Pact’s job board, his towering form a familiar sight in Sandcrest. Whether scolding rookies for their lack of preparation or praising veterans for their successes, Orik’s booming voice carries weight. To new Seekers, he can be an intimidating figure, but to those who have survived the desert under his guidance, he’s a symbol of resilience and the backbone of the Seekers’ Pact.
His mantra, often repeated to those who gather nervously for assignments:
“The desert doesn’t care if you’re ready. So be ready before it proves you’re not.”
