Nyco watched his new companions. They seemed like a motley group. They had no real organization. A sick man, a young soldier, a rake, and now a young boy. If they are to find the relic before the Clippers then some effort to focus them will be needed. Kolbus, the man he was sent to find, seemed cautious and just as entangled with Taven. Nyco was unsure how to let Kolbus know they were of like intent. Taven’s current hold, and the threats against his person, left little room to do other than as directed and help these men and give his reports. He would try to enjoy this day’s festival. It appeared that most of the Rust district was turning out. Anything to distract them from their daily misery, Nyco mused. The Rust is little different from other poor places he had visited in his travels.
He watched Lily Mossfield moving through the throngs of people. She really was an attractive young woman. He considered, for a time, going over and flirting with her. He also noticed Lorna. The young elven woman blending into the crowds with her hood up, hiding her heritage. Nyco felt something at that observation. It was sadness for Lorna was beautiful as most of her kind, but here in Conwyn she was barely noticed as such. Nyco made up his mind to get to know the elven woman better. He collected two ales and two skewers of meat then crossed to her. He offered her the drink and food and set his plan in motion to woo the lass.
