Order of Aldus

A order made up of many different faiths and religious sects.  The prime tenants and purpose of this order are the finding and removing of dangerous curses out in the world of Alduras.

The order was first founded by a group of paladins and clerics of Ariel after they came upon a long forgotten tomb.  The tomb unmarked on the hillside was the final resting place of Sir Nathaniel Aldus.  In life he was a knight, honor bound and loyal.  He was a follower of the Holy Family and did right by all who he met.  A shining example of knighthood that had ever been seen.  In the tomb the holy men and women read of his deeds in life.  They read on and on through the stone tablets that lined his tomb.  Upon death he was given the title of Saint.  Saint Aldus the Curse Bearer.  See in his life he happened upon a cursed amulet that was worn by a  young girl in a now unknown village.  The amulet was causing her visions of death and pain.  The nightly terrors were slowly driving the girls mind mad.  Sir Aldus being a man of fine moral fiber and unwavering faith to all that is good, he found rites and rituals that allowed him to remove the amulet and take it onto himself in her stead.  This was the start of his journey to sainthood.  He felt that Ariel’s servant Danien, god of protectors  had spoken to him and set him on this path.  For the remainder of his years walking this wide strange world he hunted down cursed objects and relics, taking on more and more of the horrors they contained.  He studied different faiths and magics from far off lands to allow him to unbind and even break curses.  He walked the world a beacon of fortitude as he was beaten down daily by the torments meant for so many innocent.  His final act was to lock himself away in his tomb…A place where he could forever keep what he took out of the world.

The Order of Aldus the Curse Bearer follow his teachings.  They train in mystic and arcane arts to help remove or contain curses through out the lands.  They put their faith in one another and believe that through self sacrifice the world can be purged of evil.
